Bonaparte Patterson
Murals of Baltimore has been contracted by the Butchers Hill Neighborhood Association in Baltimore over the years to create a series of historical 3D murals. The first of these murals was the Bonaparte Patterson Mural that tells the story of the romance between a Baltimore Lady named Elizabeth Patterson and Jerome Bonaparte, the younger brother of Napoleon Bonaparte. The two meet in Baltimore and became married but were forced to separate because of Napoleon wanting his younger brother to marry a European. Elizabeth Patterson was the daughter of the man that donated Patterson Park to the City of Baltimore.
Murals of Baltimore used various painting techniques to represent the couple and their son Bo which include tromp l’oeil and forced perspective. MoB designed the mural to show a balcony scene inspired by Romeo and Juliet where the self-centered Jerome turns away from his family and Elizabeth is torn between her son and her husband that leaves her.
The mural is located at 22 South Chester Street in Butchers Hill of Baltimore.
